The Magic Of Connection: Tommy Le From Good Time Spills His Secret To A Joy-Filled Christmas Away From Home

December 20, 2024

This Christmas, we caught up with Tommy Le, the passionate co-founder of GoodTime, home of “The Best Local Burger – Share A Good Time.” Together with his partners Duc and Long, Tommy spent 1,095 days building their burger business from an online delivery service to a physical restaurant at 1 Nam Tràng Street, Hanoi. Known for crafting flavors that blend Vietnamese spices and Western influences, GoodTime celebrates cultural connection, creativity, and community. Whether it’s reimagining a French house into a vibrant burger spot or infusing every burger with a story, Tommy brings warmth, resilience, and authenticity to everything he does—fitting perfectly with the season of giving and gratitude. Let’s dive into his take on Christmas, Santa, and hopes for the new year.

Tommy Le is the co-founder of GoodTime Vietnam

1. What does Christmas mean to you?

Christmas means connection. Growing up far from family, it was never about the perfect tree or the fancy gifts—it was about feeling a sense of belonging. I’ve been lucky to share this season with friends from different cultures and backgrounds, each bringing their traditions to the table. It’s a beautiful reminder that love and kindness transcend borders.

2. When did you begin suspecting Santa’s not real?

I think I started suspecting Santa wasn’t real when I noticed the “gifts from Santa” were things my parents couldn’t afford. But instead of disappointment, I felt admiration for how they made magic out of so little. As I got older, I realized Santa’s spirit lives in anyone who gives from the heart.

3. What’s your most unforgettable gift?

One Christmas, a close friend gave me a small, simple compass & a tattoo. They said it was to remind me that no matter how far I am from home, I’ll always find my way. I’ll save the tattoo’s story for another time.

4. If you were Santa, what would your priorities be?

If I were Santa, I’d focus on reaching the kids who feel unseen—the ones like I once was, who might not have much but dream big. I’d want to remind them that they’re important, that their circumstances don’t define their worth or future.

5. If money were no object, what would you ask for this year?

If money were no object, I’d ask for the wisdom to find balance.

6. Can you give a positive message to all our readers for the new year?

No matter where you come from or what you’ve been through, believe in the power of connection. Life is unpredictable, but the people you meet along the way can become your chosen family. Here’s to a year filled with courage, laughter, and love.

Tommy Le’s journey—from a hopeful dreamer to the clever creator of a beloved burger brand—shows the heart of Christmas: being together, working hard, and finding joy! Whether he’s grilling burgers or sharing good feelings, Tommy reminds us that love, kindness, and a little purpose can transform everyday moments into something truly special!

Here’s wishing you a season full of warmth, meaningful connections, and, of course, good time with those who matter most.
